The weather is a conundrum in Australasia...
The weather in Australasia could be best described as a conundrum during the last year or so. I read a post from one of my blogs that was written just over a year or so ago. At that time Australia was beset by massive bush fires in the southern states for weeks before they came under some control, with a bit of help from volunteer fire fighters from New Zealand and North America. Meanwhile 2000 miles over the Tasman Sea New Zealand was gettng some of the worst late Winter/early Spring weather in sixty years in some cases - freezing conditions, heavy rainstorms, flooding etc. Twelve months later it has been Australia's turn for heavy rainstorms and flooding. New Zealand had been enjoying beautiful summer weather since Christmas, until the rainclouds blew over the Tasman Sea and started dropping similar rain over New Zealand too yesterday. What are the causes I wonder? El Nino weather conditions, climate - change, cyclical weather conditions, global warming etc. |
