Rooted in the distant past...
A report from Sweden suggests a team of researchers from Ume University have found a craggly looking conifer tree which, not of itself, may be part of the world's oldest tree rooting system that has been growing for 9950 years. The 4 metre conifer tree itself is not old, but it is the rooting system underneath that has been growing for a record period of 9550 years. The tree was discovered by the researchers in the Dalarna province in Sweden.
