Iphone flawed by reception problems...
Apple Iphone has been flawed by slow internet speeds and poor reception globally, it has been reported, especially by bloggers joining the flood of online complaints. Iphone 3G users in Australia, Europe and the US were suffering because of a flaw in their devices that might have been repaired if Apple had not been so paranoid about secrecy, it was claimed. Apple supplied the phone to carriers only the day before it was released onto the market, leaving very little time to test it on networks. IT news website CNET also reported the apparent poor reception the Iphone 3G users were experiencing - very similar to complaints five years ago when 3G phones were launched in Europe. A number of NZ bloggers on the Geekzone website described the poor reception they had experienced. However, according to a Vodafone spokesperson the user experience was now positive; the only real problem was supplying the demand. No official complaints had been made to consumer watchdog groups, such as Consumer NZ and the Telecommunication Dispute Resolution Services. Australian Vodafone said the issues were device specific and not the carriers networks. They were working through issues with Apple to provide solutions. A financial analyst suggested the reception could be caused by faulty chips, CNET claimed - problems such as dropped calls, service interruptions and abrupt network switches.
