I thought I had heard of everything until read the following...
A Japanese hospital has opened that country's first baby drop off box... I thought I had heard of everything until I read the following: JAPAN: A Japanese hospital has opened the country’s only anonymous drop box for unwanted infants despite government admonitions against abandoning babies. The baby drop off, called Crane’ Cradle, was opened by the Catholic-run Jikei Hospital in the southern city of Kumamoto as a way to discourage abortions and the abandonment of infants in unsafe public places. The hospital is described as 'parent’s last resort'. Before I criticise Japanese society, let me state that similar baby drops exist in Germany and South Africa.
