He had an inoperable lung cancer and won a million dollars but...
He had an inoperable lung cancer and won US$1 million in a state lottery jackpot but... Five weeks after his diagnosis with his cancer an American man who had won his fortune on a $5.00 scratch ticket had planned to use his money and buy a little time by checking into a Philadelphia hospital that specialises in the treatment of advanced cancer. But then came the shock! The New York lottery prize is paid out at the rate of $50,000 per annum over 20 years, and the lucky man will just not have enough money for his treatment - it requires $125,000 up front and $250,000 in reserves. With a wheezy laugh the 51 year old just commented, "If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." Such is life! It reminds one of the old song that goes something like, " Water, water, every where, but not a drop to drink!" |
