Ancient Egyptian granaries recently unearthed in Egypt...
By Peter Petterson of personal
Archaeologists working for the University of Chicago in southern Egypt have reportedly unearthed seven ancient grain bins, the largest ever known in that country. Artifacts which were also found nearby enabled archaeologists to date the silos to between 1630 and 1520 BC. if the dating is, indeed, correct, the bins actually existed in the days of Moses. These circular mud-brick bins,5.5 to 6.5 metres in diameter and probably at least 7.5 metres high, were part of a local administrative centre. The university's report on the find stated "that such centres functioned as places where the agricultural wealth of the Nile valley was mobilised for the state. Grain as currency provided the sinews of power for the (ruling) pharoahs." The report added that,"because grain was a form of currency, the silos functioned as a bank and a food source. The state bank of the ancients?
