An onion a day keeps the doctor away...
An onion every day keeps the doctor away - no apple for your teacher... Recently a New Zealand Crop and Food Research geneticist discovered a gene that apparently controls sugar levels in onions, but there’s no guarantees to sweeten up onion breath. What it could do is give growers the opportunity to develop better tasting and better storing onions. Although its far too early to assess just how much the research was commercially viable, it was most likely to boost New Zealand’s $61.6 million in onion exports. This new research is likely to be highly sought after by growers interested in consistent characteristics.
